Pokémon Champions VGC Meta Snapshot - 02 July, 2026
2 weeks into Regulation M-B and the dust is starting to settle. Here's what we're covering this week in our Pokémon Champions meta breakdown:
- The fall of Rain teams
- The usual suspects holding rank #1
- The rise of an unexpected challenger

Current best competitive teams
If looking at the current top 4 teams below gives you a headache like you went back in time, well... it looks like we're back in Regulation M-A — and you're not hallucinating. Last week had 2 Rain teams in the top 4, and they simply vanished a week later.
Basically, teams #1, #2 and #4 are exactly the same as 2 weeks ago. #1 and #2 are still the best teams around, and #4 packs a lot of counter-picks against them:
- Lycanroc Dusk
as a threat to Mega Charizard Y 
- Mega Froslass
to control the weather and threaten Garchomp 
- Mega Scovillain
as a burn machine to deal with the 3 heavy physical damage dealers - Sneasler
to pressure Whimsicott 
and Mega Floette 
As a counter to the top 2 teams, this one well deserves its #4 spot.

Individual Tier List
This week's trends are mainly tier drops.
This is due to 2 main meta shifts:
- Rain teams dropping in win rate as players have started finding techs against them, bringing down Pokémon like Mega Dragonite
- Trick Room, an archetype that was very well represented on ladder in the first week of Regulation M-B but was unable to maintain any kind of dominance. And it brought a few of its members down with it: Torkoal
, Mega Mawile 
and Mega Pyroar 
(who was often paired with Torkoal for devastating Fire-type moves) - Mega Raichu Y
was a Pokémon many players had been trying to build around, but after the surprise effect of its release, it has already started to drop in both win rate and usage
The only Pokémon rising in tier this week is Hydreigon 
, who is starting to find plays alongside Mega Metagross 
— both Pokémon complement each other's weaknesses very well while being offensive threats on their own.

We can notice that, even though Rain teams have lost their top 4 spots this week, the archetype's core Pokémon are still around in Pelipper
