VGC Meta Snapshot - 23 June, 2026
One week into Regulation M-B, and we're already seeing major shifts in the Pokémon Champions meta! Let's cover these changes together.
Changes in Regulation M-A Pokémon rankings
There have been a lot of changes in the previous meta Pokémon tier list. Here are the most important changes recorded as of June 23:
- Risers are mainly related to 2 archetypes: Trick Room and Rain. As we will see later in this article, there are very clear reasons for this.
- Fallers are Pokémon that suffered from these archetypes becoming stronger.
Pelipper 
and Farigiraf 
in particular have become increasingly more popular and powerful as staples in their respective archetypes.
Mega Aerodactyl 
is having a hard time keeping up with Trick Room strategies reverting Tailwind's effects, and is even getting outsped by the likes of Mega Swampert, the new star of Rain teams after its release with Regulation M-B.
Mega Venusaur 
on the other hand, as a former part of Rain teams, simply got replaced by Mega Swampert and dropped quickly in both usage and win rate.
Surprisingly, Garchomp 
also suffered a lot from the new regulation, even though the reasons for this are unclear for now.
New regulation, new rules!
Yes, Rain and Trick Room teams are shaping the meta. The new additions that made these teams possible are pretty clear by now.
For Rain teams:
- Mega Swampert
as a new, physical damage dealer, which Rain was lacking previous to its release - Mega Metagross
as a strong mega evolution on its own, with a lot of synergy with other Rain members able to destroy its own checks and threats, especially Fire-types
- Mega Mawile
as a sweeping powerhouse, a huge threat with the right setup - Mega Pyroar
, whose ability Fire Mane in combination with Torkoal's Drought unleashes devastating Fire-type moves such as Heat Wave
Though each of these two archetypes got new toys to play with, Rain teams have become way more dominant because they were already an important part of the meta in Regulation M-A. They just got even stronger.
Current best Pokémon Champions teams
The top 4 teams of the meta this week are pretty easy to figure out.
The #1 team is still the best one from the previous regulation, with basically no adjustment at all.
#2 and #3 are two versions of Rain. One features Mega Metagross and Sableye 
as damage dealer and screen support respectively, while the other one chose Mega Floette 
and Grimmsnarl 
for these exact same roles.
#4 is one of Regulation M-A's last outsiders, built to compete with the #1 team, which represents 4.2% of the meta. This is probably the main reason why this team is so well positioned: countering the top team gives it a spot in the top 4 as a major contender to its reign.
Individual tier list
- Mega Swampert , Mega Metagross and Gholdengo
go straight into tier A with an astonishing 52.3% win rate and 16.2% usage after only one week - Pelipper and Archaludon
reach tier S thanks to the incredible performance of Rain teams - Sinistcha
also reaches tier S as a major support in both Rain and Trick Room teams
